1989 - Miles Davis on Sixty Minutes
Переглядів 10 тис.14 днів тому
The Prince of Darkness, Miles Dewey Davis, made a rare television appearance on the popular CBS-TV show, Sixty Minutes, in 1989, just a few years before he left this world. Miles had a very distinctive, raspy voice. That gravelly voice contributed to his general aura of coolness and mystery. But it was actually the result of an operation he had in 1955 to remove a non-cancerous polyp on his lar...
Timothy Leary Meets Thelonoius Monk

I have vivid memories of when Timothy Leary emerged as a media figure. Dr. Leary, a former Harvard psychologist and lecturer, was known for his controversial stance on psychedelic drugs. In the early 1960s, he explored the therapeutic possibilities of LSD and similar substances. By the mid-60s, he had become a regular on television talk shows, promoting the mantra to "turn on, tune in, and drop...

I discovered her recently and have been watching several of her clips for the last few weeks and I'm absolutely bowled over by her playing on standards and, her original compositions- and the musicians she chooses to play with are amazing as well. I have to agree 100% with the comment that "she's a force of nature." Miki is an incredible musician...and she always, always swings her "you know what off." Love, love her!

Jan hammer is super important too because of the Early Di Meola records that are still popular, to the point right now Al is touring with that material (Elegant Gypsy, Casino, etc.), easily as big as MO and RTF. One thing is not mentioned in this interview (unless I missed it) was that John was called by Claude Nobs to fill in for an opening act that cancelled last minute….he was given a FENDER STRAT, and he played MO tunes with BILLY!! That was 2010 and there are clips of it on UA-cam. To me that is absolutely the MO reunion that people have wanted.
